Student success is at the core of everything we do at Southwestern Michigan College. That achievement is reflected by how well our students do while at SMC, as well as the grade-point-average (GPA) of our students who have graduated and transferred to four-year universities.
SMC is repeatedly ranked in the top 10 percent of community colleges nationally for individual student course success, according to the National Community College Benchmarking Survey.
Also, Southwestern Michigan College students who transfer to four-year universities in Michigan achieve at those institutions higher grade point averages than their peers. SMC is also repeatedly ranked in the top 12 percent of community colleges in the nation for the success of its students upon transfer.
The following charts illustrate how Southwestern Michigan College students who transferred to Western Michigan University and to Ferris State University continue to outperform their peers.
These achievements are a testimony to SMC placing time, resource, and value on the success of our students. At SMC, the success of our students is our success.
